Hepatitis Vaccination Program

Any workers who have reasonably anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious material during performance of their jobs are considered to have occupational exposure and to be at risk of being infected. Workers infected with the hepatitis B virus face a risk for liver disease which can be fatal, including cirrhosis of the liver and primary liver cancer (OSHA Factsheet, 2011). As part of your employee exposure control program, OnSite Health can offer hepatitis B vaccination series to your employees and their family members. Our on-site program frees you and your employees from the need to leave the worksite for a process that takes just a few minutes of your time. Hepatitis B vaccine is a very safe vaccine but will require the consent of the participating persons. Most people do not have any problems with the vaccination. The most common side effect to occur is the presence of soreness at the injection site and an elevated temperature of 99.9 (CDC, 2012). Severe problems are listed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2012) as very rare.
